Thanks to Julie DiMattio for sharing this box.

Chap Stick or lip balm is a great stocking stuffer. Who  can’t use something to keep lips from being dry?  Placing the Chapstick in a cute box tells the recipient you thought of them.

To make this box you need:

  •       Card stock or DSP  cut 3-3/8″ x 5″
  •      Score along the 3-3/8″ side at 3/4″, 1-1/2″, 2-1/4″, and 3″
  •      Score along the 5″ side at 3/8″, 1-1/8″, 3-7/8″, and 4-5/8″
  •      Turn your scored card stock so the 3-3/8″ sides are facing up and the other down. Starting  at the bottom right hand corner, cut up each vertical score line to the second  horizontal score line. You should have 4 cuts. Then rotate 180 and repeat. cutting up each vertical score line to the second horizontal score line.
  • Then turn your card stock so that the 5″ side is at the top and the 3/4″ score line is at thhe top. Starting at the right hand bottom cut the first tab a little left of that first score line.
  • Just above you will find the next tab. Leave the next tab as is.
  •   The tab above the tab you just left as is cut just below that first score line.
  • Then cut the next  two tabs off at the second score line.
  • Rotate 180 and at the bottom right corner, begin by cutting the narrow tab off at the second horizontal score line.
  • Leave the next tab as is.
  • Cut the next tab just a little to the left of the first score line.
  • But the next tab off at the second score line.
  • Cut  the last tab just a little to the left of the score line.
  • Now go back and miter all the shorther tabs.
  • Then round the corners of the long tabs. These will be the tabs that close your box.
  • With a hole punch, punch a half circle on the space that you cut off at the second score line that isopposite th long tab.

Your card stock should now resemble the template below.

  • Now fold the 3/4″ side that has no tabs inward and place a strip of tear and tape on it Remove release paper from tear and tape.
  • Fold the opposite side over so that the end is sealed to the side that has tear and tape.
  • Now it will be obivious which tabs need to be folded down. Then fold the long tab over the other tabs with the end of that tab going down inside the box. It will now be the lid.
  • Do the same on the other side.

Enjoy!
