Christmas is such a wonderful time of year. It’s a time for healing and celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. This Christmas was definetly that.

The year 2006 was extremely busy for my family members and our emotions were all over the place. There was death in the family, there was a wedding, there was Thanksgiving and there was a big family Christmas to be planned.

Even though Christmas is such a wonderful time of year and my favorite of all the Holidays, it is my experience that planning a family Christmas takes time and attention to detail. With all that was going on I am not sure how my daughter-in-law  planned and hosted a great family Christmas.  How she accommplished every detail is a mystery but she did an amazing job. She managed a big beautiful Christmas tree.

There was a big tree. The big beautiful tree my daughter in-law decorated added to the festive season. There were blue shiny ornaments, there were blue and silver bows, there were lace bows, white pearly ornaments, and so much more. This big beautiful glorious tree was the color inspiration in my layouts.

The  family photos were also a consideration in the layout.  The size of the pictures as well as the placement of the pictures, the ephemera, and the embelishments were all chosen with the photos and the tree in mind.

And now the layouts:

As you can see the colors in the tree are inspirational. There are blue shiny ornaments, white pearly ornaments. shiny blue pewter ornaments, lace bows, blue bows with a shiny silver edging, and beaded garland. Also everyone is dressed in black and/or white- the silver shine is repeated in the collar on my daughter in-law’s dress. The bows are also repeated in the children’s clothes. The blue is also repeated in my blazer.

  • The silver ornaments were cut out of the Silver Brushed Foil using the Spotlight of Nature dies. The silver strips (1/2″) were also cut out of same foil as the ornaments.
  • The white ribbon used int the layout not only provides texture but mimics the bows that are present on the girls dresses. The ribbon also give the feel of texture and the white dress the oldest child is wearing is textured.
  • The  white ornaments in the layout are cut from white pearly paper to bring out the same pearl look in the white ornaments in the tree.
  • The Night of Navy strips (4″) pay respect to the blue shiny ornaments and ribbons on the tree.
  • The two toned black cardstock that is the base was used as everyone is wearing black or black and white clothing.
